I’m 48 years old, and I was suffering several typical perimenopause symptoms: insomnia, hot flashes, painful intercourse. The first two, I had come to accept and was coping with, but I did not want to give up my sex life. I’m not a fan of needles, but I definitely did not want to down synthetic hormones. Plus, I’d had great results from acupuncture years ago for irregular menstrual periods, so I figured I’d try Chinese medicine again.
I first had a tonifying treatment, and I realized when I was on the table with the needles in various points, that I felt entirely relaxed on a deep level for the first time in a long time. Josie modified my exercise regimen, made some nutritional recommendations, and got me started on two herbal formulas. I’m not a fan of pills, either, since I’m very drug sensitive. I noticed no negative side-effects from the herbs; and relief came quite quickly. I started sleeping through the night and feeling rested. The hot flashes subsided. I had three follow-up sessions, and I continue to take two different herbal formulas. I’m back to exercising and have not had a hot flash in more than six weeks. And the discomfort during intercourse, to my relief and delight, has disappeared, too.
I’m amazed at how much better I feel, and how relatively easy and quickly I found relief. I hope more women will try treatments: Based on my experience, I don’t believe we need to suffer those nasty symptoms of perimenopause.

I had foot surgery, however my foot was still in continual pain. I had heard of acupuncture, and although I was skeptical, I was also desperate. My first session consisted of a thorough review of my medical history and physical condition. It was a soothing and relaxing experience and, I felt immediate improvement. I had surgery on my hand to reattach a cut nerve and tendon. My doctor and occupational therapist told me that I should not expect to gain full range of motion in my affected finger. In addition to my regular therapy treatments and massage, I saw Josie Bouchier weekly for 8 weeks of my recovery. She used a variety of techniques to break up scar tissue and promote nerve growth.
